SWOT Analysis

A SWOT analysis is a tool for identifying the strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats of a company. For this question you need to locate an existing SWOT analysis from the past year and then find three additional sources that either support or contradict the information from the analysis. These analyses are very easy to find in the library business databases. Here is an analysis for Delta Air Lines Inc. from Business Source Premier.

The next step is to find three additional sources to build on the information from the SWOT analysis. For example, the report above lists "fluctuating fuel prices would impact the cost structure" as a threat. Both opportunities and threats are external to the organization. Industry reports from IBISWorld can provide helpful information related to external issues. The IBISWorld report on domestic airlines has a section on fuel price trends. For the research paper we would write about the threat in the SWOT analysis and add the information found in the IBISWorld report. We would repeat this process for two more strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, or threats using additional industry reports or articles from the other business databases.
