A trademark is a word, phrase, symbol or design, or a combination of words, phrases, symbols or designs, that identifies and distinguishes the source of the goods of one party from those of others.
Trademarks can be registered with various individual states, the USPTO, and other countries. Performing a thorough trademark search is complicated by the number of different trademark registration sites.

This video outlines the differences between trademarks, patents, and copyrights, and introduces the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and its Trademark Information Network (TMIN) series. It provides information about the federal trademark registration process, as well as highlights the rights and protection you gain by federally registering your trademark.
