GEOG 435/535 : Planning a Sustainable World

In support of the course, Geography 435/535 Environmental Planning, this guide focuses on resources and strategies to assist students with their Library Lunge and Annotated Bibliography assignments

Let's Get Started!

1. Assembling Your Search Vocabulary

The Library Lunge assignment asks you to find, read, and review three scholarly journal articles on an environmental planning topic of your choice. And your Annotated Bibliography requires that you find, read, summarize, and cite 15 articles on your topic. Before you dive into searching, it's a good idea to jot down a list of keywords describing your topic.

Think in terms of big topics and then smaller ones that feed into it to help you focus.

  • Habitat conservation AND Columbia River (topic AND place)
  • Oil and Gas Industry AND Native Americans (topic AND group)
  • Water rights AND salmon (topic and thing)

Keep a running list of your search terms, especially for your Annotated Bibliography Project

2. Environmental Planning Associations and Other Organizations
