Happy Easter - Postcard from the Amador family

by Jennifer Olguin on 2023-04-06T14:21:00-06:00 in Languages & Linguistics: Spanish, New Mexico, New Mexico: Las Cruces | 0 Comments

Earlier this morning, I was culling through the Amador family papers and came across this Easter-themed postcard and decided to share it due to Easter being days away.  The postcard is from the Amador family papers and is addressed to Emilia Amador Garcia dated April 9, 1918, from a friend named A.B. Castañeda who was living in Los Angeles. In the postcard, Castañeda is seeking family updates from Emilia. The family papers have a wealth of holiday-themed ephemera and due to the funding awarded last year from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the NMSU Library currently is digitizing 15,000 pages of correspondence in its entirety in order to increase access to this valuable resource.

This digital collection will continue to grow until the project’s anticipated completion date in the fall of 2025. To access the completed portion of the project visit the Amador family correspondence project. To learn more about the initiative, please see a recent article that provides further details on the project. Stay tuned and check out The Open Stacks periodically for updates!
