Academic Video Online (AVON) 

SCOPE: Academic Video Online has a comprehensive collection of approximately 70,000 titles videos available to stream. Most films are documentaries although the collection has many feature films as well as theatrical performances, ballets, and operas.  

USEFUL FEATURES: Faculty can embed permalinks in their Canvas course and students can do the same with presentations or projects. Embed codes are also available. You can search, display, and copy transcripts. Users can create clips to share. The cite feature offers these citation styles: APA 6 or 7, MLA 8, and Chicago A and B.   

SEARCHING: Search by film title or by “channels”. Channels are specifically cultivated subject focused collections.

SCOPE: Kanopy offers streaming of about 60,000 videos. Only a select number of videos are available and must be requested by faculty for teaching purposes.
