Useful Citation Styles

It's important to cite sources that you used in your research. You cite,

  • To show your reader that you have done proper research and your work is credible
  • To be a responsible scholar by giving credit to other researchers and acknowledge them
  • To avoid plagiarism by quoting words and ideas that you have taken from other authors
  • To allow your reader to track down the sources through your citations. You need to cite your sources accurately when you write through footnotes, a bibliography/reference list

Citation styles

There are many different ways of citing resources from your research. The citation style sometimes depends on the academic discipline involved.
