Conducting research in the field of genealogy requires the use of many different historical and recent materials in the library and elsewhere. This guide provides a bibliography of useful tools located throughout the library in the Reference Collection, Government Documents, Special Collections, Archives, and circulating collections. It also provides a basic strategy for research, and a list of other sources of information to help you trace your family tree.
NMSU librarians are not trained genealogical researchers, but they can assist you in finding materials throughout the library.
Although comprehensive, this bibliography is by no means an exhaustive list of genealogical sources at the NMSU Library. Rather, it is meant to introduce you to categories of materials.
