HathiTrust Catalog Records have a variety of information and further searching options. They allow you to generate and export citations (remember that you should always double-check the citation as generated reference entries are often incorrect). You can view the item in full text if it is available, or search for specific words within the text if it is not available but you want to determine if the resource would be a good one for you to use. You can also choose "Find in a library" to locate a print version through WorldCat. Within the catalog record, the Author and Subjects appear as links which will take you to a new search using those terms to find new resources. The "Similar Items" listed on the right side are items in HathiTrust that are related and relevant to the item you are viewing. This is another way to find new potential resources for your work. Depending on the resource, these options may look differently from our example above.

Parts of the HathiTrust Full-View Page

The image below is the full view screen of the resource for our catalog record above. Scroll below this picture for a description of what you can do from this page.

There are many options on HathiTrust full view pages. On the right side of the screen you will see options for navigating within the text, finding words or phrases within the text, and viewing the text. You'll probably recognize many of these options from other programs you have used.

On the left side of the screen you'll see the information and options broken down into sections. The "About this Book" section contains information about the rights for this HathiTrust resource as well as a link to get back to the catalog record page. The "Get this Book" section contains all the choices you have for accessing the resource, including downloading options and a link to get the resource through WorldCat. "Text Only Views" switches the book to text instead of an image, increasing accessibility. There's also a direct link to HathiTrust's page on Accessibility. The "Add to Collection" section allows you to add the resource to an existing collection or create a new one. The "Share" section allows you to post about this HathiTrust resource to various social media, and provides permanent links to the book or even to a specific page itself. You can also embed the book onto a webpage. (Remember that if the resource is not openly accessible to everyone--see the Rights section in the "About this Book" section--they will not be able to view it). The "Version" section tells you when the resource was last updated. Depending on the resource, these options may look differently from our example above.
