Intro to Library Acquisitions

This is a guide for Library Selectors and Users to understand how Library Acquisitions works

How to order e-books

Preferred:  Use GOBI find the title you wish to order.  We do have a slight preference for EBSCO ebooks, as the merger between ebrary and EBL is still stabalizing.  We also only buy single user at this time.  Add it to you Selection Cart.  Add the needed information to the record, such as fund code and any notes to acquisitions.  Move it to the Order Cart.  You're done.  More information on using the GOBI system is available in the Training tab.

Secondary: Via OSTicket, send as much information you have on the desired title, including fund code and desired binding, to Technical Services - Acquisitions.  We will take it from there.

Tetriary: Same as the secondary but you do all the research of where to order the item from and include that information with the request.  Examples of other sources include the publisher, EBSCO, or another ebook platform.

Note that some ebook publishers do not have a library business model.  This includes LULU, Amazon, and most other self-published ebooks.

If you are ordering a title  RUSH, please include who it is for and their Banner ID and email address so we can contact them when it is ready.

If you are ordering a title as NOTIFY, please include who should be notified and their email address.

In YBP RUSH and NOTIFY information should be included in the Acquisitions Note.  In OSTicket, please include it in the body of the request.
