NMSU Faculty Lectures @ the Library

The NMSU Faculty Lectures @ the Library is a series aimed at supporting an academic culture of inquiry and discussion. The series will feature NMSU faculty members across a variety of disciplines, offering students, faculty, staff, and the greater Las Cruces community the opportunity to engage with new research, thought-provoking discussions, and innovative ideas. 

NMSU Faculty Lectures @ the Library is open to the public, free of charge, and held in the Fall and Spring semesters.

Mary Lamonica and Bruce Berman present Home Front: Alfred T. Palmer’s World War II Photography.
This new work examines the photography of Alfred T. Palmer whose color photography of wartime factory work helped to boost morale and normalize women in working roles. Lamonica and Berman are both professors in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at NMSU. Books will be available for purchase.

Brandon Hobson presents his upcoming novel The Devil Is a Southpaw (Ecco). 
A novel within a novel, Hobson explores the surreal and nightmarish experience of incarceration and the emotional extremes of pride and forgiveness through the darkly comic writing of the character Milton Muleborn and his friendship with Cherokee artist Matthew Echota. Hobson's previous novels include the National Book Award nominated Where the Dead Sit Talking and The Removed. Hobson teaches Creative Writing in the Creative Media Institute at NMSU. Books will be available for purchase.
