NMSU Digital Collections

For digital curation and data preservation initiatives to be successful, activities must be based upon sound and tested standards that promote best practice. The DCC is committed to providing a standards watch that will play a vital role in the testing and certification of new tools and trusted digital repositories.

FADGI is a collaborative effort started in 2007 by federal agencies to articulate common sustainable practices and guidelines for digitized and born digital historical, archival and cultural content. Two working groups study issues specific to two major areas, Still Image and Audio-Visual.

Provided by the Library of Congress, the information on this page looks at best practices of digitization, online presentation and access, and digital preservation of historical materials.

A publication of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) that has these three purposes in mind:
1. To provide an overview of some of the major components and activities involved in creating good digital collections.
2. To identify existing resources that support the development of sound local practices for creating and managing good digital collections.
3. To encourage community participation in the ongoing development of best practices for digital collection building.
